740 9th Avenue East

Owen Sound

CONVENIENTLY located on Highway 6 and 10 in Owen Sound, The Travellers Motel offers one of the Best Rates in Town. The clean and respectfully decorated rooms offer air conditioning, colour TV, telephone, Microwave, fridge and desk. A restaurant, right out your front door, serves breakfast and lunch, or stop in just for a coffee and muffin. Also on site is the TM Variety Store. A great place to pick up snacks, drinks, last minute supplies and sundries. Everything you need in one place! Ample parking and two entrances into the driveway enable easy access to everything Owen Sound and the surrounding area has to offer.
Owen Sound has many kilometers of walking, hiking, cycling, and cross-country skiing trails. The one-way harbour walkway, an asphalt path approximately 3 kms in length, is of sufficient width to accommodate both walkers and cyclists. It follows the harbour from Kelso Beach, on the west, to beyond the Harry Lumley-Bayshore Community Centre on the east. Other natural paths are located in Harrison Park and along the Sydenham River. Various bicycle routes throughout the city are either asphalt paths or follow less well traveled roads. Close by you can experience just about anything.
Ecotourism is a description that could have been invented just for this area. Nestled in the Niagara Escarpment, Owen Sound is in the heart of one of the world's great natural features, an eco-system so unique it has been proclaimed an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The Niagara Escarpment provides unique wildlife habitat: home to 100 species of trees; 320 species of birds, some indigenous to the escarpment alone; and 50 of the 70 species of fern known to exist in Ontario. You will want to see the Mill Dam, where Ontario's first fish ladder was constructed by the North Grey Region Conservation Authority in 1959. You can watch trout migrate upstream in April and May and the spectacular Chinook Salmon from August to October. The Mill Dam is found off Second Ave West at 6th Street. There is plenty of parking.
Owen Sound is blessed with three terrific golf courses and many more within a half-hour drive. The Owen Sound Golf & Country Club is the oldest course, nestled between the Niagara Escarpment and Georgian Bay. Located just east of Owen Sound is the well-manicured Scenic City Golf Course. This semi-private course is within easy walking distance and power carts are available. The new Stone Tree Golf Course is carved around the hardwoods and conifers of the Niagara Escarpment. Mature forests, wetlands, tall grasses and limestone formations all blend together naturally. Amenities include the Pro Shop, swimming, tennis, a fitness centre, massage therapy and fine dining.
Experience the Owen Sound area and be assured that you have paid one of the lowest room rates in town.
