Lavender Harvest Celebration July 18 & 19 (9:30 am -4:00 pm)

Our organic Lavender gardens are nestled in a picturesque setting on a scenic hilltop in the Grey Highlands. At Stoney Hollow Lavender we grow our lavender without herbicides or pesticides. We harvest, bunch, dry, strip and sift the buds entirely by hand. Harvesting is done within the morning hours to ensure the highest percentage of essential oils remain in the buds.

Once a year, in mid-July, we open our gardens to the public for our Lavender Harvest Celebration. During this popular event, you are invited to experience all the captivating fragrance and beauty of this purple flower.

Take a self-guided tour through the gardens along fragrant thyme-covered walkways. Sip on a glass of Lavender Iced Green Tea (our recipe appeared in the Toronto Star a couple of years ago) while you enjoy a relaxing view of our lake from the porch.

Also, be sure to linger awhile in Stoney Hollow’s Secret Garden created from the foundation of an old barn.

For your convenience, we provide you with a complimentary “self-tour sheet” which will describe the evolution of our gardens and assist you in identifying the various varieties of Lavender plants and perennials. To complete your experience you may wish to pick your own lavender bunches (ready-picked bunches are also available). We provide information sheets on “How to Use Your Lavender” and a tested Lavender Recipe sheet with your purchase.

New this year! Lavender Log-making demonstrations will take place throughout the day.

Potted Lavender plants will be offered for sale as well as Stoney Hollow’s quality products. Our products include French and English dried bunches, Dried Lavender buds (including culinary and Lavender Fusion), Relaxing Pillows and Eye Pillows, Sachets, Lavender Cleansing bars, Lavender Fire Logs, Lavender Balls and Lavender Oil.

If you are interested in learning more about Lavender, be sure to book a small private group tour, by appointment only from Sunday, July 12 through to Saturday, August 1, 2009. Please visit our website for all the details.
