Mid-Week Adventure for 2
Paisley, Ontario
DAY ONE:
First stop on this adventure:
Nature’s MillWorks is on the banks of the Teeswater River in Paisley, Ontario. The Mill in the name refers to the building’s original function. It was originally called the Paisley City Roller Mills and they shipped flour around the world. Check them out and see the unique gifts and art work from local artists.
Dinner is on your own, have a bite to eat at Marty’s Bar & Grill in Paisley and then take a walk around town. See the history and culture of the area.
Book in at the Sconeview Bed & Breakfast in Scone for a relaxing evening.
DAY TWO:
Enjoy a wonderful homemade breakfast made by Becky.
If this is a Tuesday, wander over to the Keady Market (open Tuesdays from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm). Take a stroll through rustic alleys packed with 250 vendors selling a wide variety of produce ranging from Niagara peaches to deli meats, home baking, crafts and a broad assortment of other goods. And while you're there, check out the three livestock auctions beginning at 9 am. - 10:00 a.m.
Enjoy lunch at the market from one of the many vendors, from fresh Mennonite bread to deli meats, and fresh fruits for dessert.
Or if this is not a Tuesday, why not pick up a canoe or Kayak right on property at Sconeview B&B and spend a day paddling the North Saugeen river to the town of Chesley. Park the canoe and explore the unique shops and have a picnic, hike the Chesley trail where you will come across a very nice old trestle bridge. You could also do some fishing on the Saugeen River.
For dinner take a leisurely drive to Port Elgin and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants. (Crabby Joe’s, The Atlantic for Chinese food or Lord Elgin’s for the best fish n chips). After dinner linger along the beach and see one of the most spectacular sunsets in the world. Return to Sconeview B&B to relax for the evening.
DAY THREE:
Rise and shine to the smell of brewing coffee and fresh homemade breakfast.
Just before departing for home, why not take a drive to some of the many waterfalls or lighthouses in the area. You could also tour the rural gardens or hike the trails, brochures are available at Sconeview B&B.
Time to say adieu to your little adventure.
