This year's event is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21 .

The first CHI-CHEEMAUN FESTIVAL was held in 1975 to celebrate the arrival of the new ferry that runs from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island. The ferry is a major tourist attraction in the community and draws a huge number of visitors to the area.
The Festival began as a one day event and over the years has expanded to three days. It is always held on the third full weekend in June.  It has become an annual homecoming weekend for many people.

The weekend begins with the J.P. Johnstone Memorial Slo-Pitch Tournament. Children's Art Contest, and Entertainment at the Community Center followed by a Fireworks Display.  The annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday morning always draws a large crowd.  The Ball Tournament continues all weekend, with a Food Booth and Beer Garden to provide refreshments for those watching the games.   There is Face Painting and Games for the younger generation and of course the Ladies Auxiliary Pie Sale is always a hit.  The Antique and Classic Car Display on the Ferry Dock is a major feature of the weekend.  The Whitefish Dinner on Saturday evening is something you will not want to miss.  Sunday features an Ecumenical Church Service, Mini Golf Tournament and the presentation of Trophies for the Ball Tournament.
