The Bruce Peninsula Society of Artists was formed in 1997 by a group of local artists who wanted to create a place for artists of all sorts to come together and share their interest in art.  Since then, the BPSA has gathered under its umbrella organization other art groups so that all can share in the costs and business of making art available to the public.  The BPSA meets each month on the 4th.  Wednesday of the month in Lion's Head, where the program includes a variety of subjects such as talks on various media, films about art and artists, demonstrations of various art techniques, life drawing, guest artists and other activities.  Their newsletter Brush Strokes, lists information on exhibits, articles on art and artists, reports from affiliated art groups and accomplishments of members.  Presently there are over 80 members. 

 

In 1997, the Bruce Peninsula Artists Co-op Gallery was created as a venue to display and sell art.  It has 14 members and has gained a reputation for carrying some of the area's finest art and handmade pottery.  Located at One Mill Street in Lion's Head, it is open from May 22nd to October 9th.

Open 7 days a week in July & August. -Monday to Saturday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Sunday 12:00 to 4:00 pm

 

The Annual Bruce Peninsula Art Show came under the BPSA umbrella in 1999.  The show has been running for over 43 years and attracts numerous artists and art lovers.  Held on Civic holiday weekend July 30-31, August 1-2, 2010 at the District School in Lion's Head, the gymnasium is transformed into a giant art show with as many as 84 artists exhibiting their work.
