Many things in life are overlooked or undervalued.  Such as the brilliance of a sunset, the taste of a homemade meal, and my focus; the presence of a blooming flower.  I care for living things, pure things, things you can smell and touch.  Things that invoke the senses and bring piece of mind.  These things are often forgotten when they have the power to bring happiness to so many lives.

Growing up on the Bruce Peninsula I spent most of my time outdoors. I was drawn to nature, everything that it offered. I quickly realized my outlet in high school, with the guiding hand of my art teacher; that surrounded by paint, pencils and clay is where I truly belonged. I studied everything from stained glass to pottery, to mosaic tiles and pastels before I found by true niche, painting.

I continued on after high school and attended Georgian college where I graduated with Honors in the Fine Arts Program.  There I also was able to broaden by knowledge as I studied sculpture, drawing, print making and painting along with other English and writing programs. As my knowledge grew so did my strength in painting, I have been part of several group exhibitions, including the Lions Head art show which I attend every year, as well as the Bon Echo Art Exhibition and Bruce Peninsula Studio Tour. Also including a solo art exhibition which took place in 2005 in Walkerton, Ontario.

For me the entire process of painting is a joy. I love to see raw materials like wood and canvas come together to create the basis for my next paintings.

Once a year I set aside some of my time, and devote several days to building my own wooden stretchers, stretching the canvases followed by applications of several layers of gesso and sanding. In the end the final product is structurally sound and of extremely high quality. This displays my attention to detail as well as my desire to create.

My paintings represent something in me, the part of the me that believes nature offers the most beautiful things. These things, I wish to share.
